Hunters Point Shoreline

2019 Urban Design Commendation

Hunters Point Shoreline transforms the edge of a former PG&E power plant site into a waterfront public space, inspired by an innovative community engagement project that brought over 15,000 people to the site. The result is a neighborhood amenity infused with the story of the land and its community.

The jury believes that this project exemplifies the power of community engagement, transforming an industrial site into an urban amenity with an inventive design. It clearly provides a network of experiences and access – to outdoor space, exercise, and views of a changing industrial landscape – all while signaling the potential for continued development in the area.
