2020 Architecture Honor Award
Skigard Hytte is a site-specific response to its cultural landscape. The cabin, suspended by 45 columns, is covered with diagonal logs and a grass roof. The all-wood interior is organized by four frustum ceilings and the main space opens to the surrounding nature through glass walls.
The jury adored this handsome, contemporary adaptation of traditional building principles, with a plan that is both disciplined and comfortable while maximizing incredible vistas. It is an inventive, cozy, and cute cabin, with an elegant use of inspired textures and materials.
