18th Edition Theme: Gather: Spaces & Places Where We Come Together
The 18th Edition of the Small Firms, Great Projects program aligns with the mission of opening the new Center for Architecture + Design. This year's team is Gather: Space & Places Where We Come Together, and it is a fantastic opportunity for small design firms to spotlight their work.
This year's theme, Gather: Space & Places Where We Come Together, explores ways in which architects create dynamic spaces for collaboration, connection, and celebration. All residential, commercial, and public space projects will be accepted.
Across design industries and the built-environment community, creating inspiring spaces to gather requires a multifaceted approach. How does your work contribute?
Submission Eligibility
Open to small San Francisco Bay Area architecture, landscape architecture, interior architecture, and architectural lighting firms, Small Firms, Great Projects 18th edition provides a platform for small firms to feature their best work in print, online, and in conjunction with AIASF programming. Featured work and profiles may include any project type or client sector.
Firms may submit work for a profile in a one-page layout or two-page spread. Firms may submit projects that have been previously published in Small Firms, Great Projects or other publications.
This year's editorial articles will focus on how the spaces in which families, friends, co-workers, and the public gather together. To align with the 2023 theme of Gather, Small Firms, Great Projects, participants are invited to pitch articles to highlight the variety of ways small firms are making a difference in the creation of Places and Spaces Where We Come Together.

For the print edition, pitches for feature articles are requested; built work, across architecture, interiors and landscape design, with professional photography are preferred. For the digital edition, pitches for feature articles with both built and unbuilt work, as well as thought pieces, are encouraged with priority given to pitches which connect with the theme.
