Join the Bay Area's built environment community as we return in-person for a special evening in the resplendent War Memorial and Performing Arts Center's Herbst Theatre and Green Room in San Francisco. The evening will honor and celebrate this year’s Design Awards recipients and recognize their achievements in a broad range of architectural work in and by the San Francisco Bay Area design community. We look forward to celebrating with you!

In existence for half a century, the annual AIASF Design Awards program recognizes the outstanding achievements in architecture and design of Bay Area individuals and organizations as well as celebrates the distinguished work of architects and related professionals from afar who contribute to the framework of our local built environment. The program serves to inform the public of the breadth and value of architectural practice.

AIASF Design Awards winners will be announced at the ceremony on May 4.

    2023 Design Awards Co-Emcees

John King is the San Francisco Chronicle’s Urban Design Critic, writing about everything from towers to navigation centers, parklets to façadism and sea level rise. He is an honorary member of the American Society of Landscape Architecture and the authors of two “Cityscapes” books on San Francisco buildings published by Heyday. His newest book, “Portal: San Francisco’s Ferry Building and the Reinvention of American Cities,” will be published in November by W.W. Norton.

Lourdes Garcia is a Studio Manager with the Bureau of Architecture at Public Works, San Francisco's oldest municipal department. Lourdes’s architectural career spans 35 years. Upon closing her own practice, Garcia Studio (previously GDeS), of 15 years, Lourdes joined the Bureau of Architecture in 2017, transitioning her professional focus to public service. Lourdes oversees one of the Bureau’s five design studios that create, restore, and upgrade San Francisco’s architectural treasures for our city’s departments, our neighborhoods, and our communities.
