    American Craft Show

    Friday, August 2, 2019 @ 10:00 am - Sunday, August 4, 2019 @ 6:00 pm PDT

Learn about the process of making, get inspired, and prepare to be wowed as you meet and shop more than 250 of the best jewelry, clothing, furniture, and home décor artists from across the country – including a juried showcase of talented emerging artists – at the American Craft Show in San Francisco. Throughout the show you’ll find shared booths featuring makers in our Hip Pop emerging artists program, a three-year track that provides a supportive, cost-effective pathway into our shows for artists just starting their career. In San Francisco, we’re excited to have 30 artists exhibiting through the program.

Our Let’s Make program features a variety of local artisans who provide demonstrations, tastings, and hands-on activities for you to experience the process of making. In San Francisco, we’re excited to partner with the Art Association Napa ValleyBread SrslyCalstar CellarsCrochet JamJamnationMaker Studio SFMatilda’s BloomboxSweetdragon Baking Company, and Tula Bakeshoppe.

We partner with undergraduate and graduate schools across the country to provide experiential education at our shows through our School-to-Market program, which helps students gain practical insight and exposure to launch a successful practice after graduation. This year we welcome students from the Mendocino Art Center.

Join us on Friday at 4 p.m., for an exciting presentation of the Awards of Excellence with special guest jurors: Rob Forbes, founder of Design Within Reach and PUBLIC Bikes; Jennifer Morla, president and creative director of Morla Design; and Cindy Weil, founder and creative director of the Immigrant Yarn Project. These awards acknowledge beautiful work and technique and highlight the untold stories embedded in the practice of making. Winners be serenaded by Mike Marshall (yes the Mike Marshall) and receive a cash prize and guaranteed entry into next year’s San Francisco show.

Co-designed by Bob Cut founder Anthony Rogers and Copenhagen-based designer Kenta Thomas-Naoi, “The Power of Scent” is an experiential installation that shows the innate power that scent has in our lives. Our first dates, our first flowers, the perfect candle that fills our space – these experiences leave a scent bookmark in our psyche that later reveals itself in an aspect of our lives. Bob Cut Mag will be featuring scent geniuses Etta + BillieBasik Candle,Studio Sandoval, and Tigerlily PerfumeryPlease note: This installation is in an enclosed space so that those with sensitivity to strong scents can experience the American Craft Show without being exposed to the scents. The products that will be featured are all natural.

At the close of the show on Friday, August 2, we will be partnering with Off the Grid for a fog appreciation workshop featuring Hip Pop emerging artist Jennie Lennick of Jenny Lemons. The workshop aims to engage guests in hand-coloring vintage ’70s designed totes from “Objects for Preparing Food,” an exhibition co-curated by the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian and the Museum of Arts and Design in 1973. Come for the craft and stay for the good eats!
