Special Edition PHN Presents: Warm Climate Resilience: the rise and Rise of Passivhaus Down Under
We often hear that ‘Passivhaus is for cold climates’ or that ‘we don’t need that in our ‘mild climates.’ So why are so many large-scale Passivhaus buildings by notable architects springing up across Australia and New Zealand? The growth of large-scale Passivhaus buildings happening across Australia and New Zealand in the commercial and educational sector is highlighting features of the Passivhaus approach that make it so appropriate in warm climates: heat-wave resilience, added protection from smoke during fire events and a more rigorous approach to condensation and mold prevention are just three key benefits being delivered by Passive House buildings in warmer climates (on top of expected energy efficiency, comfort and health outcomes). Join us in welcoming Australian visitor, Chris Nunn, to learn more about the growth of Passive House buildings across Australia and New Zealand.
