This final review of first-year undergraduate project work from the Academy of Art University traces students' developed design processes based upon identified 'actions' that are explored through solid/void, light/shadow and material tectonic studies. The semester culminates in their first foray into designing a small, live/work structure for a variety of artesans in the North Beach neighborhood, integrating their previous studies and tectonic language into a hybrid building proposal. Come join as curious observer or prospective critic!
