Presenters

Gerry Tierny, AIA, LEED AP

Gerry grew up next to the water just south of Dublin, Ireland. He seemed destined to become an‬ architect—his father, brother, and cousin all were—but he very nearly chose another path. On the eve of‬ the deadline to accept an offer from the Merchant Marine, he made a last-minute decision to accept an‬ offer from architecture school, instead. Destiny, itn turned out, had called. And so began Gerry’s lifelong‬ journey into the world of design.‬ Today, Gerry focuses on urban place-making. As Co-Director of Perkins & Will's Mobility Lab, which‬ studies the impacts of evolving urban mobility on the public realm, Gerry has developed a passion for‬ applying design thinking to the future of transportation‬.

Peter M. Mueller, AIA, LEED AP

Peter M. Mueller is a local San Francisco architect with a passion for waterfront access. Peter‬ has taken part in organizing the waterfronts programs produced by the AIA SF International ‬Practice and Mentorship Knowledge Communities. With a broad background of architectural‬ practice in Europe, local grassroots leadership at AIA SF, and ongoing tactical urbanist/coastal‬ interaction globally, Peter has shown an ability to lead dialogue for productive exchange of ideas‬ between waterfront designers and policy makers from different continents and disciplines.
