Stet Sanborn, AIA, Principal at Smithgroup, will describe energy modeling tools and practices that span the design process from early concept modeling to detailed modeling required for Net Zero Energy designs, all of which can be used to systematically reduce carbon emissions associated with operating energy use. He’ll spend the majority of the presentation focusing on specific tools and data sources to help teams incorporate climate change into their design process as well as tools focused on resilience with particular focus on microgrid modeling to support resilience during wildfire related preemptive power shutoffs that have changed California’s relationship to the utility grid.
