Reprogramming the Anthropocene: Broadening Sustainable Approaches
Academy of Art University, School of Architecture
The diverse international community at the Academy of Art University School of Architecture addresses relevant questions about the future of our society. The exhibition shows a sampling of student projects that gravitate around these values, mainly focusing on resilience and sustainability, but often within a broader cultural context. Students are empowered to determine project parameters for the issues and communities important to them. The projects offer insight into young architect’s visions for change. The tangible solutions are often substantiated by hands-on research, including financial concepts, or clear paths for advocacy with concrete plans for potential realization. The architecture curriculum fosters students' development as leaders and catalysts for meaningful change.
Architecture for a Changing Climate: CCA Explores California’s Climate Crisis
California College of the Arts, Architecture Division
The Architecture Division at California College of the Arts presents Architecture for a Changing Climate, an exhibition featuring six projects from a two-year series of studios in collaboration with the town of Greenville, CA, alongside two master’s theses exploring resilience and repair in California’s Wildland-Urban Interface. From repairing after a fire event to revitalizing local economies to designing fire-adaptive buildings and communities, these works envision new approaches to rebuilding and resilience in fire-prone regions.
