Online Course: OSHPD Project Closeout (1 LU)

After a hospital or skilled nursing facility project has received a building permit, the presentation will explain the required steps for architects and engineers to efficiently move through construction and the best way to closeout the project.

 


Learning Objectives

  1. Explanation of code requirements that affect the professional(s) of record during construction and project closeout.
  2. The responsibilities of the OSHPD Area Compliance Officer and the Inspector of Record during construction and how to best coordinate with them during project closeout.
  3. Project closeout check list – what is needed?
  4. How to best monitor and complete the Testing, Inspection and Observation (TIO) program.
  5. How to best notify OSHPD that construction has been completed and the need for final inspection.
  6. Required documents, such as the Final Cost letter from the owner, needed for OSHPD to close the project.

    Richard Tannahill
    Supervisor, Building Standards Unit, Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development

    Richard Tannahill is the Supervisor of the Building Standards Unit (BSU) with the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development. A licensed architect since 1995, he has over 30 years of architectural experience of which over 25 years is in healthcare specializing in project management, building code, and construction administration. Richard is a past board member of the Hospital Building Safety Board and continues to be an active staff participant. He has been with the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development since April 2015 and is currently working on 2022 code revisions.

    William Owen
    Manager, Document Processing Unit, Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development

    William Owen has worked at the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development since 2017. He is currently the manager of the Document Processing Unit (DPU) in Sacramento. The DPU performs support tasks such as project intake, closure, project billing and provides customer service for external clients and internal staff.
