Andrew Mann Architecture is seeking a Junior Designer with zero to four years of work experience and exposure to custom residential design.  A well-rounded, enthusiastic, motivated person who would like to participate in a collaborative, creative work environment will thrive in this position. The well-respected firm specializes in the design of high-end custom residential architecture.  The office’s work is rooted in the tradition of the Bay Area style and is characterized by a crispness of detail, a richness of space and a sophisticated use of natural light.  We embody a sense of humility, responsibility, passion, and pride as we embrace design challenges and learn from mistakes.

Employment at Andrew Mann Architecture offers the candidate the opportunity to contribute to the design process, follow the development of projects from conception through completion and be involved in the craft of architecture and building.  Mentorship plays an important role in ethos of the firm; for the right person, this position has the potential to grow along with the growth of the firm

These shall include participation in the development of single family residential and unique, bespoke institutional projects from start to finish; from the conceptual design phase through construction administration. This will require working with the project team on the development of design ideas, communication with clients, assistance with the coordination of consultants, research of local codes, production of construction documents, assistance with the guidance of projects through the approvals process and involvement in the resolution of issues that arise during construction.  The firm looks to the strengths each team member brings to the table in order to finalize the position description, but generalists who can manage, design, and communicate thrive in this office.

Candidate must be a creative problem-solver, be able to work independently and to balance the responsibilities of multiple projects at the same time.  Applicant should have strong design skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience should include the exposure to the design, documentation and construction administration of wood-frame construction residential buildings, plus some understanding of the California Building Code.  The office works in Revit; familiarity with it will be required.

Candidate’s background should include at least one extended architectural internship or past job experience and a master’s degree or bachelor’s degree of architecture.  The firm provides competitive compensation and a generous employee benefits program including health insurance and a 401(k) retirement plan.  The office has a hybrid weekly schedule that balances working together in the office with other days that are work-from-home.  Team members should be available to visit jobsites throughout the Bay Area on occasion.

Please email cover letter, resume and representative work samples to info@andrewmannarchitecture.com.  Please indicate your role and responsibilities for each project included in your portfolio.  Limit file sizes to less than 5MB and note “Andrew Mann Junior Designer” in the subject line.

We will review your submission and contact you should your qualifications meet our staffing needs. Depending on the volume of applicants, not all will receive individual responses. No phone calls or drop-ins to the firm please.
