Bartos Architecture is located in the Heart of Silicon Valley, Oregon and North Carolina. We are looking for a talented Architect, Project manager, Job Captain, Recent Architecture Graduates, and Drafter(s). (A college degree is not required for this position – we are looking for talent, experience and enthusiasm)

Our Educational Facilities projects are innovative. We work mostly on preserving and repurposing existing facilities. We are specialists in Career Technical Education Facilitates. We have designed everything from auto shops and carpentry shops to health careers facilities, culinary arts centers, and an observatory/planetarium.

We are a “teaching firm”: come here to learn and refine your craft. Participate in and lead all aspects of projects. We are focused on Educational Facilities and Public / Civic Facilities. On occasion we take on special residential projects. Our expertise includes Solar Electric Projects, and we have also played support roles in Airport Master Planning. In addition to our core architecture work, we are developing innovative Software for use by public school districts.

Every project we take on must be good for society and the planet. We are proud to have received the AIASMC award for Firm Service. Good works is at the core of our work. We provide a very innovative and unique High School and College intern program. We provide paid time off for volunteer work in your community.


We provide complete flex time, flex location, hybrid/remote or in-office as you need. Work full time, part time, or some other arrangement. We will support your professional development. We will pay for your Architecture exams and NCARB AXP process. Family and personal life is the most important thing for you — and we want our firm to be an extension and supportive of your life.

Here’s what we really need: California Division of the State Architect, and Public K12 school facilities experience. Public / Civic project experience. Knowledge of California Building Code, especially Type V (wood frame) construction. If you have the ability and interest or experience working with school administrators, facility staff, educators, contractors, inspectors, and more you would be ideal.

AutoCAD: Very important. Bluebeam: Very important. Bim / Revit: getting important. Rendering software/ability, somewhat important. Also…Adobe Suite (illustrator, in design).

If you are in the SF Bay area – that would be best. If you are anywhere in California that would be next best. If you have California experience and have moved out of state, that is good too – especially if you are located in the Portland Oregon, Charlotte North Carolina, or Chicago, Il. areas.
