Website Shah Kawasaki Architects

Shah Kawasaki Architects (SKA) reputation stems from the talent, commitment, intelligence, integrity, and solid professional skills of its staff. We are a “community based design firm”, whose projects included visitor and recreation centers, public safety, education, work place and other civic buildings.  Our projects are local, tangible, meaningful and sustainable.

Although we are a relatively small office of 12, we differentiate ourselves in the size, diversity and complexity of the projects we undertake.  It is an ideal environment to grow as an architect, to be exposed to all phases, sizes and types of projects.

We are located in a bright office, two blocks from BART, in Oldtown Oakland, full of restaurants, the farmer’s market, and city activities.   Currently we are working from home, and are slowly transitioning to a permanent hybrid model which provides the flexibility to work up to two days from home.

This position will expose the candidate to a wide variety of architectural office experience as a path to become a licensed architect.  The experience will include supporting the firm’s principals and project architects in design, presentation, marketing, construction documents and construction administration.  The candidate should have a strong desire and ability to learn.

Experience/Skills Required:

·       Professional degree in architecture preferred.

·       0-3 years of architectural office experience.

·       Proficiency in design graphics

·       Foundation in design excellence.

·       Revit proficiency a bonus

·       Strong communication skills a bonus

·       Supportive demeanor and contributor to a great working environment are required.

Rewards/Benefits/Compensation:

This is a full-time position.  Our comprehensive benefits include medical insurance, dental reimbursement, 401(K), annual bonuses, profit sharing, paid vacation, sick leave, holidays and participation in pre-tax commute voucher program.  We actively participate in professional development through mentorship, seminars, approved tuition and professional exam reimbursement. For immediate consideration, please submit your cover letter, resume, and portfolio examples in PDF format by e-mail to architect@skarc.com, and reference Designer / Recent Graduate in the e-mail subject line.
