The Design for Aging Knowledge Community provides a monthly forum for interdisciplinary presentations and discussions on topics relating to aging and the built environment. Architects, contractors, activists, senior living providers, and people from across various professions and local community come together to share their perspectives, expertise and knowledge.

Meetings highlight innovations in sustainable housing and services, home products addressing aging, nursing home regulations, dementia/memory care projects, assisted living and continuing care retirement communities, co-housing, aging in place, and related topics. The Committee on Aging seeks to enhance the built environment and quality of life for our aging society.
Our first meeting was held on November 7, 2007. The Committee works directly with the National AIA Design for Aging Knowledge Community, and other entities addressing the challenges and opportunities of design for aging, in Northern California region and throughout the country.
