Fellowship Nominating

The AIA Fellowship program was developed to elevate those architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society, and have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession. Election to Fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of the architect as an individual, but also honors his or her achievements to the public and the profession. Fellows have made significant contributions to architecture and society on a national level.

Each year, AIA San Francisco’s Fellowship Nominating Committee reviews the submission packets of possible local Fellowship candidates and nominates the strongest candidates to the National office.

You can learn more about pursuing Fellowship by visiting the AIA College of Fellow's document on "The Path to Fellowship". Please visit the AIA National Fellowship page if you are interested in pursuing Fellowship to view deadlines and requirements and see examples of past recipients to begin preparing your submission. If you believe you meet the eligibility requirements of 10 years of architect membership but are uncertain, you may reach out to aiamembershiphistory@aia.org to receive confirmation.

AIA National will open the 2022 cycle on June 28, 2022. Local Chapter submissions are reviewed in three rounds. The deadlines to submit are 1:00 PM on Fridays:

  • July 1
  • July 29
  • September 2

Submit your materials to Angela Chen, Member Services Coordinator, at achen@aiasf.org. Please label each document clearly with your first and last name.

Completed applications must be submitted to AIA National by 5pm ET on October 6, 2022.
