Project Manager (Type Five)
Type Five is a housing company that designs and builds exceptional homes. We streamline the hard parts of homebuilding so we can focus on what matters most: a seamless process, thoughtful design, and quality craft.
We’re developing a homebuilding operating system that brings together our modular design system with proprietary software to design, document, and build homes faster and more economically. We believe that standardizing how every home is designed and built will unlock the ability for more people to own living spaces that meet their unique needs.
We’re early in our journey, but we’ve raised millions from industry-leading investors and operators. We currently have dozens of Accessory Dwelling Unit and Single-Family Home projects at various stages of the design/permitting/build processes throughout the SF Bay Area. We're looking to grow our small and mighty team with creative, entrepreneurial, mission-driven, and relentlessly passionate people who share our goal of not only building housing but innovating the processes through which housing is designed and built.
About the Role
As a Project Manager, you’ll work with our design team to steward residential projects from design to building permit approval. The role is primarily oriented towards managing approvals processes on multiple projects—from Revit modeling/drafting to submission to revision and resubmittal. You’ll also work with our software and BIM team to accelerate how we assemble and file permits in a way that requires less manual overhead.
While this role in the short term will be primarily focused on permitting multiple ADU projects, there will also be opportunities to be involved in the entirety of a project’s lifespan, from early design and client meetings to construction administration. We’re looking for someone who’s a creative problem solver, autonomous, and curious to expand skill sets in software-driven parametric design. Candidates should be currently located in the San Francisco Bay Area and must be authorized to work in the US.

- Architectural Licensure
- Prior experience submitting permits to and working with various East Bay building departments: Berkeley, Oakland, Orinda, Alameda, El Cerrito, etc.
