Join us for this tour which will include the indoor and outdoor public spaces of the San Francisco Waldorf School including interior spaces of The David Bushnell Center for Athletics and Community, as well as the High School which was the first LEED GOLD certified school in San Francisco.

The Bushnell Center was conceived as a simple steel structure clad in cedar siding to reinterpret the concrete buildings of the adjacent campus as a light-weight structure. A growing wall on the front facade brings life to the street and further adds to the new identity for the campus.

The project is a multi-functional extension to the campus providing indoor athletic and performance space as well as an outdoor garden and courtyard. The building offers a flexible performance space or 358-seat gymnasium for the school and community. The outdoor planting invites the school and it’s neighbors to harvest seasonal plantings for weaving, artwork and eating. A PV cost analysis was conducted and the roof is designed to be solar-ready and to provide 100% of the campus power.

Note: This tour is limited to 20 attendees; wear comfortable shoes and dress accordingly to the ever-changing San Francisco weather! Visit San Francisco's COVID-19 resources for current guidelines at https://sf.gov/topics/coronavirus-covid-19

Presented by the Center for Architecture + Design in collaboration with the American Institute of Architects, San Francisco Chapter (AIASF).
