AIASF Welcomes Anton Foss as President and Celebrates 2025 Board of Directors
On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, AIA San Francisco welcomed its 2025 Board of Directors at the annual Member Celebration + Business Meeting, and passed the gavel to 2025 AIASF President Anton Foss, AIA.
Executive Director Stacy Williams and 2024 President Francesca Oliveira, FAIA, began the evening by celebrating last year’s achievements. In 2024 alone, AIA San Francisco hosted numerous in-person and virtual events, continued to provide continuing education credits, and celebrated the one-year anniversary of opening the Center for Architecture + Design.
In addition to reviewing the past year’s highlights across programs, advocacy, professional development, and more, the evening celebrated members for their contributions to the AEC community. This year, AIASF recognized five individuals with awards for their commitment to the organization and its members. Congratulations to the following 2025 recipients:
AIASF Presidential Commendation
The Presidential Commendation is selected annually by the chapter President of the AIA San Francisco Board of Directors. The individual(s) recognized have served the members of the organization in an outstanding capacity throughout the president’s tenure and beyond. AIASF Chapter Service Award
The Chapter Service Award honorees are nominated and selected by AIA San Francisco staff. The award recognizes the work of an organization or individual who, by their skill, professionalism, dedication, ability and commitment, or volunteer contributions, have consistently advanced the common goals of AIA San Francisco.

- Dolma Chuteng: In recognition of her remarkable 25 years of dedicated service to AIA San Francisco as Finance Manager, Dolma Chuteng has been a pillar of the organization’s success. As she retires, we celebrate her countless contributions, which have left an indelible mark on AIASF and its community. Dolma’s legacy of dedication and professionalism will continue to inspire those who follow in her footsteps.
Following the passing of the baton from Oliveira to Foss, Foss discussed his presidential theme, “Design is a Team Sport,” which centers on the importance of teamwork—remembering that we will achieve our goals together. As we confront some of the most pressing challenges of our time—climate change, advancing technology (AI), and equity in our designs and profession—this year's theme reminds us to look for abundant expertise within our AIASF community.
Through thoughtful and collaborative design, we will strengthen our partnerships for years to come. Foss's year-long initiative will focus on broadening the voices at the table, which will help us gain a richer dialogue, learn from each other, and create more relevant, connected, and valuable solutions.
As he joins us at the helm of our Chapter, Foss, Managing Principal at HOK, brings to his presidency 30 years of experience in architecture, strategic planning, and design and management. Foss sits on his firm's board of directors and management board, and believes that great design and technical excellence are prerequists for any project. He measures a project's success by the client relationships that emerge from the process.
Please join us in welcoming Foss to his position as AIASF President, as well as all incoming members of the AIASF Board of Directors.
