5-7 Year Architect/Designer (FIVE Design)
FIVE Design is a San Francisco architecture firm focused on high-quality modern residential work, established in 2001. We have an immediate opening for a talented, resourceful, and motivated Architect/Designer with 7 to 10 years of design, production, and client-facing experience to join our team. Located in the bustling Inner Sunset in the historic Doelger Building, we design diverse projects and are proud of having served the needs of clients throughout the Bay Area and beyond.

Our office is steps away from the N-Judah Muni line and is close to many restaurants, shops, and Golden Gate Park.
This is a full-time exempt position. We work primarily in the office Monday through Thursday to foster communication and skills development, but currently offer Fridays as a weekly local hybrid work-from-home day.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clients and Principal to establish project design direction. We are looking for both creative thinking and the ability to bring new ideas to our projects.
- Lead the development of the design through technical detailing, working in collaboration with the Principal, consultants, and contractor to communicate our design ideas clearly to the construction team.
- Oversee and direct junior staff members in the production, organization and coordination of the schematic design, pricing and construction drawings, models, and specifications
- Facilitate permit review.
- Develop and manage project schedules, anticipate required staff resources for projects, and deftly organize workflow between projects and phases.
- Attend jobsite meetings, oversee submittal and shop drawing review, RFI responses, etc. during Construction Administration.
- Assist the office in the development of standards and CAD best-practices.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Architect preferred, but not required.
- 5 to 10 years of professional experience, with a focus on high-end Type V residential projects, including experience with all phases of design and construction.
- Demonstrated knowledge of technical issues, design and techniques.
- Experience communicating with building departments and permitting authorities.
- Demonstrated AutoCAD proficiency, Revit experience a plus.
- Sketch-up, Creative Suite, Rhino, V-Ray experience a plus, but not required.
- Exceptional communication skills.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary, based on experience, qualifications, and skillset.
- Salary range expected to be $110,000 to $130,000.
