AIA San Francisco Announces 2024 Design Awards Recipients

(SAN FRANCISCO, CA) April 19, 2024 | AIA San Francisco (AIASF) recognized the 2024 AIASF Design Awards honorees during the AIASF Design Celebration event on Thursday, April 18, 2024 in Herbst Theatre at the War Memorial & Performing Arts Center. The emcee was Monique Anton, Founder / CEO of Modern Homes Realty.

This year’s program featured a diverse range of project types that highlighted the Bay Area’s rich history of design leadership. Award recipients included Perkins&Will, Studio Gang, Mark English Architects, S^A | Schwartz and Architecture, Min Lin, Faulkner Architects, Aidlin Darling Design, Studio VARA, San Francisco Public Works, Bureau of Architecture, Herman Coliver Locus Architecture, jones | haydu, and Min Design.

The 2024 AIASF Design Awards was juried by five esteemed leaders in architecture and design which included Allison Williams, FAIA of AGWms_studio, Billie Tsien, AIA of Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects, Lorcan O'Herlihy, FAIA of Lorcan O'Herlihy Architects [LOHA], Paul Mankins, FAIA of substance architecture and Iowa State University, and Toshiko Mori, FAIA of Toshiko Mori Architect and Harvard University Graduate School of Design (GSD).

"This year's Design Celebration underscored AIASF's commitment to elevating the quality of life in the Bay Area through design excellence. We were thrilled to recognize firms whose contributions significantly impact our shared built environment, fostering a vibrant, sustainable, and equitable city with each project," remarked Stacy Williams, Executive Director of AIASF.

The AIASF Design Awards submissions are divided into three main categories: Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Unbuilt Design. The Design Awards program incorporates the fulfillment of sustainable design principles into all categories.

This year’s AIASF Design Awards program was made possible by the generous support of sponsors and partners including San Francisco Magazine, HDR, Forell | Elsesser Structural Engineers, Tipping Structural Engineers, Abstinence Spirits, Batch & Bottle, Capo Isetta, Talisman Wines.

In existence for nearly half a century, AIA San Francisco's Design Awards program recognizes the outstanding achievements in architecture and design of Bay Area individuals and organizations. It celebrates exceptional architectural design as well as the work of allied professionals from afar who contribute to our local built environment's framework. The program serves to inform the public of the breadth and value of the architectural practice.

The Center for Architecture + Design (the Center) is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to creating a public-focused dialogue on architecture, design, and the built environment in the San Francisco Bay Area.
