To reinvigorate the entry experience of a historic resource office building, the updated design enlarges the lobby and strategically relocates existing circulation elements. Rather than burying the existing brutalist core, it is now the backdrop for a veil of dynamic white ribbons that create an area of repose.

The jury appreciated this elegant softening of the Embarcadero Center’s stern materiality.
