2019 Architecture Honor Award
Perched on the corner of the 35-year-old campus of Saint Mary's College High School, the rise of the white concrete chapel is both icon and marker. The school’s mission takes on a physical manifestation to support the journey from civic life to interior restoration for its adolescent student body.
The jury appreciated the metal alter, which provides a unique and controlled flourish. The jury also enjoyed the plan of the project, finding that the building presents itself in a welcoming manner. The chapel is protected, but feels open, transparent, and inviting.
