E.D. 101: Emergency Department Planning + Design
Basic principles of Emergency Department Planning plus a virtual Design Workshop with experienced ED Planners.
Design and planning exercise for participants with limited or no experience in ED planning. Intended to be fun and thought provoking for attendees of any experience level. Meet initially as a group and then breakout into separate planning teams, led by facilitators. Then meet again, as a group to discuss the results of the breakout sessions.
Learning Objectives
- Understand E.D. Functions as Required by Codes and Standards
- Learn about E.D. Programming and Planning Drivers
- Become familiar with E.D. Patient Flow and Zoning of Functions
- Learn about Typical Clinical Spaces within an E.D.

- 6:30 pm  Break-out into Planning Teams
- Teams will be led by H+S Committee representatives
- Each Team will have access to a Miro virtual white board
- Each Team will use program component room blocks to plan the layout of the ED
- 7:10 pm  Teams rejoin the group for a pin-up discussion
- 7:30 pm  Adjourn
