The Purposeful Practice: Making Best Places to Work

    Thursday, November 16, 2023 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm PST

Note: Due to the impact of the APEC summit in the Downtown San Francisco area, this program which was originally slated as an in-person discussion is now a virtual program; Zoom link will be sent to all registrants and earlier registrants will be notified with updated information.

"Architecture firm" and "best place to work" are not often used in the same sentence.  The industry's reputation— for long hours, low pay and incredible time-demands which can often take a toll on personal life — still lingers.

But, the times are changing, and a significant milestone augurs well for the future of the profession:  Four architecture and design firms placed on the San Francisco Business Times 2023 Best Places to Work list - AP+I Design, RMW, TCA Architects and William Duff Architects (WDA).

Hear from Stanley H. Lew, AIA, LEED AP, NCARB, President at RMW; Radziah Loh, AIA, LEED AP, Partner and Principal in Charge of TCA Architects' Oakland office; and William S. Duff, Jr., AIA, LEED AP, Founder & Managing Principal at WDA, in conversation with moderator Lisa Boquiren.

The panelists will share their stories and provide insight on what makes a company a best place to work. What role do architecture and design firm founders and firm leaders play? And, why does creating best places to work matter?
