    2024 AIASF BAYA Design Portfolio Review

    The AIASF Bay Area Young Architects (BAYA) Knowledge Community is hosting the annual Design Portfolio Review for architecture students and emerging professionals based in the Bay Area. Attendees will get the opportunity to have their work reviewed by professionals in the industry and receive tips about building/presenting their portfolio. This event will conclude with a Q&A discussion.

    Presenters

    Danielle De Young, Associate, Project Manager | Marmol Radziner

    Danielle De Young is an Associate and Project Manager at Marmol Radziner in San Francisco. Danielle manages teams on a variety of architecture projects from design concept through construction completion. Danielle began her work on commercial projects in Los Angeles and has since moved to San Francisco where she manages multiple single-family residential projects in Northern California. Danielle holds a Master of Architecture from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University. Danielle is a licensed Architect in the State of California, a Member of the American Institute of Architects and a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Virginia. Danielle is also an active member of the Association for Women in Architecture and Design, based in Los Angeles.


    Ryan Hong, Sr. Job Captain | Marmol Radziner

    Ryan Hong, a licensed architect in California and New York, boasts extensive experience working on diverse architectural typologies. Possessing a keen interest in creative processes and continuous learning, Ryan is especially proficient in digital fabrication. Ryan is currently a senior job captain at Marmol Radziner and an instructor at the Academy of Art University and has previously worked with Studio Pali Fekete in Los Angeles, Bjarke Ingles Group in New York and WRNS Studio in San Francisco. He holds a Master of Architecture from UCLA.


    Rita John, Registered Architect | Kuth Ranieri Architects

    Rita is an architect and mural artist with a keen interest in cultural practices, craft techniques and sustainability explored through architecture and art projects. She earned her B.Arch degree from G.G.S. Indraprastha University, Delhi, an M.Sc degree in Sustainable Environmental Design from the Architectural Association, London, and an M.Arch degree from the University of Virginia. Licensed both in India and the state of California, Rita has worked on a variety of project types ranging from public libraries and recreation centers to residential renovations and custom art installations. Prior to joining Kuth Ranieri Architects, she ran her own Delhi-based practice, Also Architects, and worked at Bay Area firms Group 4 Architecture, Research + Planning and Cary Bernstein Architect. She has taught at multiple architecture programs in Delhi and also works independently as a mural artist to create large scale hand-made installations that integrate the architectural elements of spaces into her artwork.


    Dominick Valenti, Associate Architect | Bull Stockwell Allen

    Dominick is a talented young architect with an affinity for custom detailing and expertise in architectural documentation. Dominick believes strongly in the ability of architecture to bring people and place together by emphasizing natural connections with the environment and sustainable design. A graduate of Virginia Tech, Dominick focused on acoustics research and urban development, and won recognition for portrayal of conceptual designs through watercolor painting and full-scale assembly modeling. With a diverse professional background across the US in projects of Education, Worship, Residential, Infrastructure, Hospitality, and Commercial types, Dominick has garnered a wealth of experience in project management and applies an early consideration of building systems and human-scale design to compose cohesive and thoughtful architecture. His current work focuses on resort design in the Rocky Mountains, and oversees projects from master planning and concept design through to construction. In his spare time Dominick also enjoys fitness, hiking, baseball, and skiing.


    Christian Wopperer, Architect, Associate | EHDD

    Christian Wopperer, an architect and associate at EHDD Architecture, focuses on innovative, zero-carbon, sustainable design, and leads research and integration of AI into practice. With a diverse portfolio spanning non-profit arts, commercial, K-12, university, and government projects, he is known for his range. Currently, he is project architect of a 155,000-square-foot private school in Salt Lake City and the AIA National Headquarters renovation. Christian's past roles at WRNS Studio, Mark Cavagnero, & Perkins+Will include significant contributions to Stanford University, ODC, College of Marin, Google, Airbnb, UCSF, 826 Valencia, Chronicle Books, and El Camino Hospital. As the 2012 Sunshine Travel Fellow from Virginia Tech, he researched vernacular housing typologies in South Asia's urbanizing centers. Driven by early construction and architectural experiences starting at 16, Christian sees architecture's potential for profound impacts. He strategically analyzes place and program to create authentic, timeless designs, believing architects are crucial for advancing society and culture.
